Air conditioner indoor unit cleaning method

1. Cleaning the outer casing: Start by using a soft cloth to apply warm water or a mild detergent. Wipe the exposed outer cover first, then open the front panel of your air conditioner and clean the internal components, including the air outlet, the inside of the unit, and hard-to-reach areas. After cleaning, dry the surfaces with a clean, dry soft cloth for best results.

2. Cleaning the air filter: Follow the manufacturer's instructions to remove the filter. Gently tap it or use a vacuum to remove loose dust. If the filter is very dirty, you can rinse it with water or gently brush it with a soft brush and a neutral detergent. Make sure the water temperature doesn’t exceed 50°C. Avoid using harsh chemicals like bleach, gasoline, or banana water, as they may damage the filter material. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and let it dry naturally in a cool, shaded area—never expose it to direct sunlight or heat sources like stoves, as this could cause warping.

3. Disinfecting the heat exchanger: This step is crucial for deep cleaning. First, unplug the air conditioner. Then, spray a specialized air conditioner cleaner onto the heat sink 2–3 times, making sure to cover all areas. Let the solution sit for about 5 minutes so it can effectively kill bacteria and loosen dirt. Afterward, reinsert the filter, close the panel, and plug the unit back in. Set it to cooling mode and run it for 20–30 minutes. The condensation formed during this time will help the cleaning agent dissolve remaining dirt and further eliminate bacteria. The wastewater will drain out through the pipe, ensuring no secondary pollution occurs.
