In an effort to enhance road safety and regulate driver behavior, the Dongguan Traffic Police Department recently revealed the locations of 14 new video surveillance cameras installed across the city. Out of these, eight are specifically located in the Dongcheng district, with the systems officially activated on the 15th. These new measures aim to address growing concerns about traffic violations and improve overall road order.
The newly installed cameras in Dongcheng are strategically placed at high-traffic intersections, including areas near Zhushan, Ishii, New World Garden, the old TV station, Crow, Meicun, Donghai, and Yuhua schools. The monitoring coverage extends to major roads such as Dongbao Road, Dongsheng Road, Dongcheng Middle Road, Dongcheng South Road, and Shijing Avenue. These devices will be used to detect and record a range of illegal driving behaviors, including unauthorized lane changes, reckless turning, and driving in the wrong direction.
One of the key locations is the intersection of Wanji Road, Longji Lake Road, and Ishii Avenue. This area is surrounded by many residential complexes and experiences heavy daily traffic. The complex road layout has often led to frequent traffic violations. Local drivers have reported that since the installation of the new monitoring system, the overall traffic flow has become smoother and more orderly.
Another critical location is the junction between Dongcheng Middle Road and Dongcheng South Road, which has long been a known bottleneck for traffic congestion. The addition of surveillance cameras here is expected to help reduce incidents caused by traffic violations and prevent further delays.
Since May this year, a total of 17 new video surveillance points have been added in the Dongcheng area. The deployment of these advanced monitoring systems has already contributed to improved traffic conditions on busy streets.
