**Abstract**
Yesterday morning, the Zhengzhou National Patent Navigation Industry Development Experimental Zone Construction Promotion Conference was held in Zhengzhou, marking a significant step forward for the city's New Materials Industry Cluster Area in its ambitious plan to establish the world's first "Diamond City" and a globally influential "China Superhard Materials Industry Valley." The conference highlighted the progress made and set the stage for future development.
At the event, several key figures from the State Intellectual Property Office and local government were present, including He Hua, Deputy Director of the State Intellectual Property Office; Lei Yunyun, Deputy Director of the Patent Management Department; Wang Yitao, President of the China Intellectual Property Office; and Hu Wenhui, Director of the Henan Center of the Association. Wu Tianjun, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, and Ma Jian, Deputy Mayor, also attended.
During the meeting, Lei Yiyun and Ma Jian provided updates on the project’s progress and outlined future plans. A new steering committee for the Zhengzhou National Patent Navigation Expert Committee was officially established, with Wu Tianjun presenting the certificate to He Hua, the committee's chairman. He Hua then handed over the patent navigation map of the superhard materials industry to Wu Tianjun. Li Yinsuo, a representative from the State Intellectual Property Office, also shared his insights on the experimental zone.
In his speech, He Hua praised the progress made in the planning and construction of the experimental zone, emphasizing that Zhengzhou is one of the eight national patent navigation experimental zones and one of the three prioritized by the State Intellectual Property Office. He encouraged the city to leverage the research outcomes, enhance the role of expert committees, and focus on industrial patent layout and market cultivation.
Wu Tianjun expressed appreciation for the support from the State Intellectual Property Office and stressed the importance of the experimental zone as a key driver for innovation-driven growth. He called for a comprehensive approach, focusing on high-level planning, improving patent application rates, and building a strong intellectual property protection system.
It was also reported that last year, the experimental zone was officially established in the city’s New Materials Industry Cluster. To accelerate development, Zhengzhou and Fuyang have formed a joint leadership group to enhance industrial planning, infrastructure, and technological innovation. Currently, the area has attracted 51 major projects, including top global companies like SINOMACH, with total investments exceeding 20 billion yuan.
