Nokia has developed a liquid-cooled base station technology. This technology can save 30% of electricity and reduce CO2 emissions by 80%. Traditionally, base stations are cooled by fan systems. Nokia, on the other hand, developed liquid cooling technology. Nokia executive Harry Kuosa said: "Traditionally, base stations are cooled by air flow, and Nokia's innovation uses liquid as a coolant."
Kusa also added that liquid can dissipate heat from base stations more efficiently than air. In short, Nokia's liquid cooling system can reduce energy consumption by about 30% and reduce CO2 emissions by 80%.
Nokia had deployed the world ’s first liquid-cooled base station system in an apartment building in Helsinki, Finland, in cooperation with Elisa and Efore in December last year.
