1. Fire elevators must have a dedicated anteroom. For residential buildings, the anteroom area should be at least 4.5 square meters, while for public buildings and high-rise factories (such as libraries), it should be more than 6 square meters. When the fire elevator anteroom is combined with a smokeproof stairwell, the required area increases to over 6 square meters for residential buildings and over 10 square meters for public and high-rise buildings.
2. The anteroom of a fire elevator must be equipped with a Class B fire-rated door or a fire-resistant shutter that can remain in a closed position during emergencies.
3. A dedicated fire telephone must be installed inside the fire elevator car to allow communication between firefighters and the control room.
4. On the first floor, there should be a special operation button near the elevator door that is accessible only to firefighters. This button is typically protected by a glass cover and marked with a red "Fire Only" label to indicate its exclusive use.
5. In the event of a power failure, non-fire elevators should lose power, while the fire elevator must continue to operate with adequate lighting to ensure safe evacuation and firefighting operations.
6. An indoor fire hydrant must be located within the anteroom of the fire elevator to provide quick access to water during emergencies.
In the case of a fire, when the elevator is activated by the fire control center or a firefighter’s dedicated button on the first floor, the following actions should occur:
1. If the elevator is moving upward, it should stop immediately at the nearest floor, close the doors, and then return to the ground floor, where it will automatically open the doors.
2. If the elevator is descending, it should stop, close the doors, and return to the ground floor, opening the doors automatically upon arrival.
3. If the elevator is already at the ground floor, it should open the doors immediately and enter the firefighter-only mode.
4. All call buttons on each floor must be disabled to prevent unauthorized use during the emergency.
5. The control panel inside the elevator should be restored to allow firefighters to operate the elevator effectively.
6. The door-closing button should not have a self-latching function, ensuring that the doors can be manually opened if needed.
