Domestic appliance giant Gree Electric has new actions in the automotive field.
Recently, the "Securities Daily" reporter learned that Gree Electric provides systematic solutions for all the smart factories planned by Geely Automobile in 2019, as well as all the air-conditioned parts of staff quarters and commercial facilities. Gree Electric introduced that the two sides adopt this cooperation mode, which can save bidding links and manpower, material resources and financial resources.
It is reported that the action originated from a cooperation reached between the two sides a year ago. At that time, Gree Electric Appliance Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd. reached a strategic procurement cooperation agreement. Geely used central air conditioners in the newly built factories in the country, including magnetic levitation, centrifuges, screw machines, multiple connections and terminal equipment.
It is worth noting that the reporter learned that, in fact, in recent years, in addition to Geely, Gree has cooperated with many automakers such as FAW-Volkswagen and Dongfeng Honda, and Gree Central Air Conditioning has almost become the “standard†for automakers.
Gree is making incisions in the manufacture of home appliances and equipment to accelerate penetration into the automotive sector.
In fact, nine years ago, Volkswagen FAW Foshan Branch had a cooperation with Gree Electric, and Gree provided it with a system solution for the energy-saving series of centrifugal chillers. Since then, FAW-Volkswagen's production base in the southwest - FAW-Volkswagen's third phase project in Chengdu and the fourth phase of the new plant project, also adopted Gree's efficient centrifugal chillers.
In December last year, FAW Volkswagen Foshan nearly 100,000 square meters of MEB project, once again using Gree CE series centrifugal water-cooled chillers. Gree insiders said that the successful bid for the Gree brand has set a model for the industrial industry in South China. Since then, Gree has cooperated extensively with FAW.
It is understood that Gree Electric has provided 23 high-efficiency centrifugal chillers for FAW Volkswagen's Foshan, Changchun and Chengdu manufacturing bases.
Not only FAW Volkswagen, Gree also provided system solutions for the SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Third Base (Chongqing) Integrated Station Refrigeration Station Project and Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co., Ltd.'s capacity expansion project in Guangzhou.
Gree said: "Grely is currently negotiating more automakers and providing them with more air conditioning system solutions, and does not rule out further expansion into other areas."
Dong Mingzhu expressed his strong interest in the automotive field very early and led Gree to rush into the automotive field.
As early as three years ago, Gree issued an announcement that it plans to acquire Zhuhai Yinlong, the main new energy vehicle, for 13 billion yuan. At the same time, Gree also issued 10 billion yuan for supporting financing, which was later cancelled due to failure to be approved by the shareholders' meeting.
However, Dong Mingzhu personally paid nearly 1 billion yuan to participate in the issuance. From the announcement of the car to the official production, Gree only spent about half a year, showing its commitment to the automotive field.
Since then, Gree Electric has publicly announced that its movements in the automotive field are not many. In the meantime, there was news that Gree Electric Appliances intends to take a stake in FAW Xiali and was later denied. A few years ago, suddenly a plum-shaped car logo was exposed. It is said that this car from Guangtong Yinlong is Dong Mingzhu’s new energy car.
This time, the cooperation between Gree and Geely and FAW can be said to be a clearer action in the automotive field.
"Queen of air conditioning" Dong Mingzhu has always been out of the ordinary card, before the cross-border mobile phone, to catch up with Xiaomi, and now to cross-border to do cars, causing outside attention.
It is worth noting that the concept of Internet + car has caused heated discussion in recent years. Prior to Gree, LeTV had been frequently deployed on Internet cars. Alibaba, a subsidiary of Ma Yun, also invested 1 billion yuan to develop Internet vehicles in cooperation with SAIC.
For cross-border players, it is only a matter of waiting.
