The solid wood floor to buy the collection of the book must know the precautions

When it comes to choosing wooden flooring, many consumers face a lot of confusion. With so many brands and options available, it's easy to get lost in the details. So, what should you really look out for when buying solid wood flooring? Let’s break it down!

Mistake One: Fake Certification

Many unbranded or lesser-known companies try to pass themselves off as high-quality by using fake or misleading certifications. Some even set up temporary shops just to sell their products. But how can you tell the real from the fake?

The key is to check if the certification is issued by an official and recognized authority. For example, "National Exemption Products" and "China Famous Brand Products" are certified by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. The "Ten Rings" environmental certification comes from the State Environmental Protection Administration, while "China Well-Known Trademarks" are evaluated by the State Administration for Industry and Commerce. Additionally, the China Forestry Industry Association also issues credible certifications for flooring products.

Mistake Two: Misleading Marketing

Some retailers push the idea that wider planks create a better visual effect. They often claim that imported wide planks are superior to domestic ones and charge more for them. However, this isn't always true. Wider planks may not be more durable, and they can actually cause problems like noise, warping, or cracking due to thermal expansion and contraction.

For most homes, the ideal size is around 600 mm in length, 75 mm in width, and 12–18 mm in thickness. This balance ensures both aesthetics and performance.

Mistake Three: Overemphasis on Thickness

Some salespeople insist that thicker flooring is better, claiming it improves texture and reduces noise. While some manufacturers do produce thick planks, this doesn’t necessarily mean they’re better. In fact, for laminate flooring, the quality of the underlay, subfloor, and installation techniques matter more than thickness alone.

Mistake Four: Greenwashing with “Green Core”

You might see products labeled as “Green Core,” which sounds eco-friendly. But in reality, this is often just a green-colored center added to make the product appear environmentally friendly. It has nothing to do with actual sustainability or low emissions.

Always verify claims and look for genuine certifications rather than relying on marketing jargon. Being informed helps you make smarter choices and avoid common pitfalls when purchasing wooden flooring.
