Construction scheme of anti-seepage composite film for artificial river in Yulong New City

**River and Artificial Lake Seepage Prevention: Yulong New Town Project Initiated** Our company has officially started the anti-seepage construction for the artificial river channel project in Yulong New Town. The project utilizes composite geomembrane as the primary anti-seepage material, covering an area of 5,800 square meters. The geomembrane was delivered to the site on October 28th and was sampled and tested by the client. After passing all required tests, the laying of the composite geomembrane has begun. Due to the complex and varied shape of the channel, the construction is expected to take 6–8 days. To meet the tight schedule, our team quickly mobilized experienced welding personnel overnight to ensure timely progress. The **Hongchen** composite geomembrane consists of an HDPE film combined with two geotextile layers, with a width ranging from 4 to 6 meters. It offers high tensile strength, tear resistance, and bursting performance, along with excellent flexibility, deformation modulus, acid and alkali resistance, corrosion resistance, and aging resistance. This makes it ideal for applications such as seepage prevention, isolation, reinforcement, and crack resistance in water conservancy, municipal, construction, transportation, subway, and tunnel projects. Thanks to its polymer composition and the addition of anti-aging agents during production, **Hongchen** composite geomembrane can perform well even in non-standard temperature environments. It is commonly used for seepage control in dams, drainage ditches, and waste landfills. With the increasing adoption of this technology, geomembrane welding has become a crucial part of the construction process. Based on years of on-site experience, we have found that traditional welding methods may not always be suitable. Instead, we use a cemented joint method with precise welding techniques. ### **Preparation Before Laying the Geomembrane** 1. **Foundation Treatment**: The surface where the geomembrane will be laid must be cleaned, leveled, and free of unevenness, cracks, or sharp objects like stones, wires, or sticks. Vegetation within the seepage area should be removed, and herbicides should be applied to weeds. 2. **Protective Layer**: A layer of fine sand or clay, at least 30 cm thick, should be placed beneath the geomembrane to protect it from damage. ### **Construction and Welding of Composite Geomembrane** 1. **Splicing and Welding**: Skilled workers from “Hongchen” handle the splicing and welding. An automatic temperature-regulated geomembrane welder is used, along with a 700W hot air welding torch. After the first layer is laid, the second layer is placed over it, ensuring a 10–15 cm overlap. Before full-scale welding, a test is conducted to determine the optimal temperature (300–400°C) and speed (1.5–3 m/min). 2. **Quality Control**: Welding should be carried out in dry and windless conditions. Workers must wear flat or soft-soled shoes to avoid damaging the membrane. The welds should be clear, transparent, and free of bubbles or imperfections. A pressure test is performed using a gas cylinder and pressure gauge, with pressure maintained at 0.5–2 MPa for about 30 seconds. If no pressure drop occurs, the weld is considered合格. 3. **Repair of Unqualified Welds**: For vertical seams, the length should be kept under 80 cm. T-joints are handled by cutting excess material after each layer is bonded, then reinforcing with double-sided patches. Any damage during construction should be repaired immediately using adhesive patches. ### **Construction Speed Control** During the process, the speed of vertical seam stitching and T-jointing should be faster than the dam filling rate. Under the premise of maintaining quality, the pace should start slow and gradually increase to ensure both safety and project progress. This project represents a significant step forward in modern seepage prevention technology. We are committed to delivering high-quality work and ensuring the long-term performance of the system.
