Japan's Iwata Bolt recently launched a new line of products designed specifically for precision magnesium tapping screws: the "Seat Grounding Bolt," "Ground Nut," and "ITM." These innovations are aimed at improving electrical conductivity and sealing performance in automotive applications, especially where insulation coatings are involved.
The "Seat Grounding Bolt" is used to fasten the edges of insulated electrical components in vehicles. As it is tightened, the bolt removes the insulating paint without scattering it, ensuring a solid electrical connection and maintaining watertight integrity. This eliminates the need for masking or additional steps, streamlining the installation process and reducing labor time.
The "Ground Nut" was developed from the original "UPS-P" (Uniform Pressure Screw) type bolt. The flange of the original design had three issues that affected its performance. When tightened, the V-shaped notch on the nut and flange peels off the insulating coating on the male screw, allowing for proper electrical contact between the threads and the screw. This ensures better grounding and reliability in critical automotive systems.
The "ITM" is a precision magnesium-specific self-tapping screw featuring a unique 45-degree symmetrical thread and pitch, along with a specially designed forming section for female screws. Its thread geometry helps maintain low drilling torque when working with magnesium materials, making it easier to install and reducing the risk of material damage during the process.
These new products from Iwata Bolt represent significant advancements in automotive fastening technology, offering improved efficiency, durability, and electrical performance. Whether you're working with magnesium parts or dealing with sensitive electrical components, these bolts provide a reliable solution that simplifies your workflow and enhances safety.
