Potassium deficiency symptoms and control measures

With the increase of multiple cropping index and yield and the improper proportion of fertilization, the proportion of potassium in soil has been significantly lower in recent years. For cotton, the lack of potassium in the soil will not only reduce the yield of cotton fields, but also reduce the quality of cotton fibers and cause economic losses to cotton farmers.

From the perspective of Datian, the symptoms of potassium deficiency in cotton are characterized by mottled yellowing, weak growth, short stature, and unevenness. When potassium is deficient and nitrogen is more abundant, it is expressed as dry Coke dry, early shedding, and some also cause red ( Yellow) leaf blight. From the standpoint of individual plants, the symptoms of potassium deficiency develop from the bottom to the top, and the symptoms range from the leaf margin to the center, from the tip to the leaf base. The performance of the lower fruit branches is poor, the bells are small and small, the middle fruit branches are slightly developed, and the fruit nodes are still less, which is obviously contrasted with the normal pagoda plant type. The middle and lower leaves of cotton showed yellowing and coke blight of the tip of the leaf tip, and the leaves shrunk, and some formed a "chicken claw shape". The lack of potassium in cotton, the initial ringing is greatly reduced, late-onset and premature aging, the yield is large, and the quality of cotton fiber is poor.

Control measures to increase the application of potassium fertilizer: the application of potassium fertilizer should be combined with base fertilizer and topdressing, using organic fertilizer as the base fertilizer. In the soil with severe potassium deficiency, the proportion of chemical potassium fertilizer as base fertilizer should be appropriately larger. When the cotton field shows potassium deficiency, It is necessary to timely topdress and foliar spray. In the peak period of cotton nitrogen absorption (flowering and bolling period), it is necessary to apply potassium fertilizer in time to prevent the imbalance of nitrogen and potassium and promote potassium deficiency.

Strengthen field management: promote winter tillage to reduce or eliminate the harmful effects of reducing substances on cotton roots. On the other hand, it can also promote the release of potassium in the soil to increase the level of potassium supply in the soil. In addition, when the application of potassium fertilizer is not fully guaranteed, the amount of nitrogen fertilizer should be strictly controlled to prevent cotton deficiency caused by excessive application of nitrogen fertilizer.
