Frequent CNOOC Accident Deepwater Plan or Delay

International Energy Network News: The offshore oil giant China National Offshore Oil Corporation has experienced frequent accidents in the recent past. According to industry insiders, these accidents will affect CNOOC’s plan for oil exploration in the deep sea, and its “deep sea” plan may be postponed.

From June 4th, oil spill accidents occurred on the B platform and C platform of CNOOC Penglai 19-3 Oilfield. On June 13, the largest area of oil spill was 158 square kilometers.

At 4 o'clock in the morning on July 11, CNOOC’s refinery project in Huizhou suddenly exploded. The oil refinery project also caught fire in the early morning of July 24, 2010, causing a direct economic loss of 600,000 yuan.

At 1:30 in the morning on July 12, the central control system of the Suizhong 36-1 Oilfield, a self-operated oil field in the Bohai Bay, suffered equipment failures, production of the entire oil field was shut down, and the gas discharged from the process pressure relief torch head immediately brought out crude oil and landed on the sea. .

In early 2011, CNOOC had announced that it had achieved the target of “Marine Daqing” with an oil and gas production of more than 50 million tons of oil equivalent by the end of 2010; and the next step will be to achieve the “Deep Ocean Daqing” goal, that is, within 300 meters from the current main development. Shallow sea advances toward deep sea development.
